“The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.”

Pablo Picasso

I was born in Smithtown, New York, and grew up living on Lake Hopatcong in New Jersey. I began my love of art in high school. I graduated from Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania with a BFA in graphic design and advertising. I was exposed too many art forms in college, printmaking, photography, drawing, interior design, computer aided design & layout, but I fell in love with painting. Throughout college, I worked at an on-campus art gallery, meeting various artists, hosting receptions and installing exhibits. It was here that I began thinking about becoming a painter.

After graduation I began working for Simon & Schuster, Silver Burdett Ginn, as an associate designer for children’s books. I learned about printing, production, buying art, and worked hand and hand with editors, it was a good start. My ambition and drive to learn more, I took me to explore advertising. Now this was humbling, I started back down at entry level, because I had no experience in advertising. It was so worth it! I loved this job, my creativity was in use daily, I was learning and inspired. I worked my way up to senior art director at Dugan Valva Contessa in Morristown, New Jersey. Despite the crazy hours, I was young & loved every minute. I had had opportunities to learn from amazing coworkers, commute in and out of New York City, travel, and work with famous artists and photographers; there was never a dull day. I was happy.

October of 1997; Mark, my husband, took an opportunity for his career and we up and moved to Frankfurt, Germany to join the expat world. I painted, I traveled, I explored, and we started our family. We adopted 2 children from Vietnam, Gwyneth & Jack. For the past 20 years, they have been my life and my passion. We’ve experienced the world together, living Frankfurt, Strasbourg, Dublin, Dallas and to our current residence, Houston.

I am back into my studio as my children are now gown. I have always been inspired by interior design, enjoyed changing things up and helping my friends create their style in their homes. Incorporating the old with the new, then antique with modern creating a unique personal style . My work varies, mixed media mostly, I love graphic design, type, bold work, yet I also love painting abstract landscapes and beachscapes as well. The work I create are all originals, one of a kind pieces that speaks to you, to enhance your interior. I enjoy black and white art, creating pieces that add an elegant back drop of interest to your home. My work expresses the unknown, the explorer mixed into a variety of mediums. My works are relaxed, simple, clean and modern.

I hope you enjoy them.
